In this episode, Josh and Andrea are joined by Dr. Lu Young (@LuSettlesYoung) of the University of Kentucky College of Education (@UKCollegeofEd) to discuss the role of PBL in Higher Education. While PBL has steadily continued to grow in K-12 education, it has been a slower process in Higher Ed institutions, even though the authenticity of PBL aligns with career-readiness goals of many collegiate academic programs. Dr. Young talks about the impact she has seen PBL have on the students in the education program and the difference it makes in their preparation for the workforce coming out of post-secondary education. She also talks about how the students in her program have reflected on PBL itself and how it will impact their students when they enter the classroom as teachers themselves. This is part one of a two part Higher Ed mini-series, and really digs deep into the impact of PBL in that Higher Ed setting.
